thisisnotawebsite.com
thisisnotawebsite.com is a long-registered internet domain often confused with the mysterious Gravity Falls website, although its current purpose, available content, and connection to online puzzles remain unverified.
What Is Thisisnotawebsite.com?
Thisisnotawebsite.com is a domain registered on March 14, 2003, according to WHOIS registration records. Its unusual name has attracted attention from people searching for internet mysteries, interactive puzzles, and the popular Gravity Falls experience.
However, the domain's actual identity is less clear than many online discussions suggest.
As of October 14, 2026, attempts to retrieve its homepage were unsuccessful. Available registration and network records confirm the domain's existence, but they do not establish that a functioning puzzle, entertainment platform, or other public service is currently available.
An important distinction is that thisisnotawebsite.com, notawebsite.com, and thisisnotawebsitedotcom.com are three different domain names. Much of the confusion surrounding them comes from users shortening their names or referring to one address while linking to another.
Is Thisisnotawebsite.com the Official Gravity Falls Website?
No verified evidence identifies thisisnotawebsite.com as the official Gravity Falls website.
The established interactive website associated with Gravity Falls and The Book of Bill is thisisnotawebsitedotcom.com.
The Book of Bill, written by series creator Alex Hirsch, was released on July 23, 2024. Its accompanying online experience attracted considerable attention through mysterious messages, passwords, character references, and hidden content.
According to the Gravity Falls Wiki, the promotional website initially presented a password screen before developing into a larger interactive experience.
The similarity between the addresses created understandable confusion.
In a July 24, 2024, discussion on Reddit's Gravity Falls community, participants repeatedly clarified that thisisnotawebsite.com was not the intended address.
Similar corrections appeared in June 2025, when visitors continued reporting that they had opened the wrong website.
Anyone seeking Bill Cipher puzzles, character information, or official promotional content should therefore verify the full website address rather than relying on abbreviated names.
What Is the History of Thisisnotawebsite.com?
The registration history confirms that thisisnotawebsite.com existed long before the 2024 Gravity Falls promotional campaign.
WHOIS records provide several specific details.
The domain was registered on March 14, 2003, updated on March 15, 2023, and currently lists March 14, 2030, as its registration expiration date.
Its registrar is OVH SAS, a French domain-registration and hosting company.
A historical reference also appears in the French gaming website Factornews. On November 29, 2006, a user linked to a page under thisisnotawebsite.com during a discussion about Casino Royale.
That dated reference establishes that the address was being shared publicly in 2006. It does not, by itself, establish what the complete website offered or whether its historical content survives.
The available evidence therefore supports a limited timeline: registration in 2003, a documented external reference in 2006, renewed name confusion in 2024, and continued registration in 2026.
It does not establish uninterrupted operation of a particular website throughout those years.
Does Thisisnotawebsite.com Contain a Hidden Puzzle or Password?
A currently working password or puzzle cannot be confirmed for thisisnotawebsite.com.
Several online discussions describe mysterious websites featuring password fields, unusual artwork, colored words, and branching pages.
One detailed August 2024 discussion in Reddit's ARG community described a page displaying a pipe painting accompanied by a French phrase. The participant reported that entering its English translation led to another screen containing a philosophical quotation.
Other reported inputs included "star," "bubble," "mirage," "echo," "phantom," and "dream."
The important complication is that the discussion's embedded website link actually pointed to notawebsite.com.
Consequently, those reports provide evidence about an interactive experience associated with notawebsite.com, not independently verified functionality on thisisnotawebsite.com.
The two addresses should not be treated as interchangeable.
Likewise, the famous Gravity Falls password involving T. J. Eckleburg belongs to the separate Book of Bill experience.
Claims that any of these historical passwords currently unlock content on thisisnotawebsite.com remain unsubstantiated.
Who Owns Thisisnotawebsite.com?
The current publicly accessible WHOIS record identifies OVH SAS as the registrar and lists France as the registrant's country.
The record does not provide a clearly verified public explanation of the website's operator or intended purpose.
An older third-party Scam Detector listing included Florian LAPOTRE in an organization field. However, that information has not been independently confirmed as identifying the domain's current operator.
Registration information can also change without a website's public identity changing, and domain registration alone does not establish responsibility for individual webpages.
For that reason, attributing the domain to Disney, Alex Hirsch, a particular artist, or an alternate-reality-game developer would require stronger evidence than is presently available.
Is Thisisnotawebsite.com Still Working in 2026?
Its domain registration remains documented, but an operational homepage could not be verified on October 14, 2026.
Attempts to retrieve the standard address, including its HTTPS and www versions, timed out.
Meanwhile, network information published by Hurricane Electric's BGP Toolkit lists OVH name servers and the IPv4 address 94.23.7.224 for the domain.
These records demonstrate that technical infrastructure information exists, not that the website is delivering usable content.
A failed connection can result from server configuration, temporary outages, network restrictions, or other technical problems. It does not prove that a website has permanently closed.
Similarly, a future domain-expiration date does not guarantee public availability until that date.
The most accurate current description is that thisisnotawebsite.com remains registered, while its accessible website functionality is unconfirmed.
Is Thisisnotawebsite.com Safe to Visit?
There is insufficient evidence to classify thisisnotawebsite.com conclusively as either safe or fraudulent.
Third-party reputation services offer different assessments.
Scam Detector assigns the domain a score of 55.5 out of 100, while ScamDoc reports 69%. These are automated evaluations rather than verified findings of misconduct.
Some website-checking services also report missing or unavailable HTTPS protection. Because the homepage could not be successfully inspected, its present connection-security configuration has not been independently established.
Visitors should check whether their browser establishes a secure connection before submitting any information.
They should also avoid entering passwords reused from other accounts or downloading unfamiliar files advertised as secret Gravity Falls content.
There is no verified evidence that this domain currently operates a paid membership, legitimate download service, or official game account system.
A browser warning or unexpected request for payment should be assessed independently rather than interpreted as part of a puzzle.
How Can Visitors Find the Correct Website?
The best approach depends on what visitors want to discover.
For the official Gravity Falls-related interactive experience, use the complete address thisisnotawebsitedotcom.com. That is the domain documented in connection with The Book of Bill.
For the older independent internet mystery involving pipe artwork, philosophical quotations, and changing password pages, investigate historical material specifically associated with notawebsite.com.
For thisisnotawebsite.com itself, begin by checking the current address, reviewing its WHOIS information, and looking for dated snapshots in the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine.
Historical screenshots should always be matched to their actual domain rather than assumed to belong to whichever name appears in a social-media caption.
This distinction is particularly valuable when evaluating password guides or claims about hidden discoveries.
What Is the Final Verdict on Thisisnotawebsite.com?
Thisisnotawebsite.com is a genuine, long-established registered domain, but its current content and intended function cannot be reliably confirmed from the available evidence.
Its strongest documented facts concern its March 2003 registration, historical appearance in a 2006 online discussion, and repeated confusion with other similarly named websites.
The better-known Gravity Falls interactive experience belongs to thisisnotawebsitedotcom.com, while many independent mystery reports concern notawebsite.com.
For visitors, identifying the exact address is more useful than assuming all three websites share a creator, password system, or storyline.
Until directly verifiable content or an authoritative operator statement becomes available, thisisnotawebsite.com is best understood as a separately registered domain with an uncertain current purpose—not a confirmed official Gravity Falls destination.
