Sports also changed the balance because JioCinema became the main home for major events such as the FIFA World Cup and Indian Premier League cricket.
Voot stopped new subscriptions and renewals before its final shutdown, while eligible Voot Select members received a path to JioCinema.
Shows including Asur 2 and Bigg Boss OTT moved to JioCinema before the old service fully disappeared.
The change was therefore a business consolidation rather than a simple change to Voot’s name.
Where did Voot’s content go next?
Voot’s shows first moved to JioCinema, but the streaming business changed again after Reliance and Disney joined their Indian media operations.
The companies completed their $8.5 billion Indian media merger in November 2024, creating a large group with television, digital entertainment, and sports divisions (Reuters).
JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar were then combined into JioHotstar in February 2025.
Some former Voot programs can now be found on JioHotstar, but availability may change because streaming rights, regions, and subscription plans differ.
