Fix the domain before doing anything else

During this review, jcimining.com and its www version returned a 502 error, while the working company website was jcimining.co.za.

This is the largest problem because people may naturally type the shorter .com address after hearing the company name.

A failed domain can lose enquiries, confuse suppliers, weaken advertising, and make job seekers question which website is real.

JCI should redirect every version of the .com domain to one secure version of jcimining.co.za.

The redirect should use a permanent 301 response so search engines understand which domain is official.

If JCI does not control the .com, the company should try to acquire it or monitor it for misuse.

The same protection should cover common variations such as jci-mining.com, because search results already show an apparent recruitment post using that different domain and a third-party email address.

The main business message is clear

The live website quickly explains that JCI Mining is a South African opencast mining contractor established in 2007.

Its main services are also easy to identify, including load and haul, dewatering, drilling and blasting, plant hire, mine planning, rehabilitation, materials handling, and crushing and screening.

This is good because a mine manager can understand the broad offer without reading several pages.

The language around agility, safety, equipment availability, cost control, people, and complex operating conditions also matches what mining clients care about.

The About page is stronger than the average contractor website because it discusses supply limits, changing site conditions, workforce needs, regulations, and local stakeholder pressure.

The company also communicates community development, local procurement, skills training, environmental care, and BB-BEE ownership.

These subjects help JCI look like a full operating partner rather than a simple equipment rental business.

Mixed company details reduce trust

Several basic details do not match across the website.

The homepage lists 013 246 1826, while the main Contact page lists 013 246 1746.

The newer pages use the postal code 1055, while some older service pages show 1050 and a different version of the business address.

An older About page says the company has Level 1 BB-BEE status, while the current page reports 26.2 percent black ownership and a Level 2 rating.

These differences may have simple explanations, but a potential client cannot know which information is correct.

Every address, telephone number, registration number, ownership figure, certificate, and email address should come from one controlled company record.

Older pages also use a previous menu design, an old contact section, and a copyright notice from 2021.

This suggests the redesign was added without fully removing or updating the earlier website structure.

A full page inventory should identify every old URL, duplicate page, outdated template, attachment, and unused image.

Small writing errors hurt a serious company

The website has several visible language and formatting mistakes.

Service pages are far too thin

The strongest proof is outside the website

A recent industry profile says JCI supports just under 1,500 people including subcontractors and works mainly across Mpumalanga and Limpopo.

These are powerful signs of a modern contractor, yet the main website does not explain them in useful detail.

JCI should turn this material into project case studies with client permission.

A case study could show the starting problem, mobilisation time, fleet used, monthly volume, safety result, local employment, equipment availability, and final outcome.

This would be much more convincing than repeating words such as excellence, performance, and sustainability.

Enquiries need a better path

The contact form only requests a name, email address, and general message, followed by a simple maths check.

A serious project enquiry needs more useful fields.

The form should ask about the mine location, commodity, service needed, estimated volume, planned start date, contract length, and tender closing date.

Visitors should also be able to choose between project enquiries, equipment hire, supplier registration, careers, media, and community matters.

A separate careers page is especially important because job information currently appears through social posts and other websites.

That page should clearly state the only approved application channels and warn that JCI does not request payment from applicants.

The technical cleanup should be strict

The old and new templates should not remain active together.

Each replaced page should redirect to its best current version, while duplicate pages should use correct canonical tags.

The website also needs a clean XML sitemap containing only current and indexable pages.

Organization, Service, Breadcrumb, Article, JobPosting, and FAQ structured data would help search engines understand the business.

Image names and alternative text should describe actual operations instead of using labels such as “Image” or camera filenames.

The footer should include a privacy notice, website terms, recruitment warning, company registration details, and a current copyright year.

A practical order for the work

The first week should focus on the failed .com, conflicting contact information, old pages, spelling errors, legal links, and recruitment safety.

The first month should rebuild the service pages, fix heading structure, improve forms, add equipment details, and connect analytics with form conversion tracking.

The next two months should produce project case studies, commodity pages, regional pages, leadership profiles, safety evidence, and regular company news.

The website has a sound base and a credible company behind it.

The main weakness is that the online proof is much smaller and less controlled than the real business appears to be.
